6th Grade Social Studies Syllabus
Course Description:
6th grade Social Studies includes the study of regions and countries in the Americas, Europe and Australia.
Grades:
Summative (Test/Projects) (40%)
Students will be assessed over the concepts and vocabulary upon completion of each chapter or unit. Each chapter or unit could also include one major project that may be individual or collaborative. Students are expected to study all assignments, notes, handouts, and vocabulary in their 3-ring red binder to prepare tests.
Formative (Quizzes, Classwork, Homework) (50%)
Quizzes will be given throughout the quarter. Classwork will consist of notes on vocabulary and concepts along with hands-on activities. Students are expected to keep up with all assignments for the current unit in their red folder. Students will keep a continuous vocabulary notebook throughout the year in their 3-ring red binder. Homework will be given as needed.
Benchmark (10%)
Benchmark will be administered at the end of each quarter.

Agenda
The agenda is extremely important. Students will copy daily plans into their agendas at the beginning of each class. Homework and/or tests should be written down in the agenda. The agenda is also used to note student deficiencies with organization and/or work.
